Activity Report (April 2000 to March 2001)
April 24-25, 2000 : The zone deputed the Secretary of the zone to attend a Governing Board Meeting of ICITP in New Delhi national office. The meeting was postponed and rescheduled on 21st of May 2000.
May 6, 2000 : The Secretary of the zone along with 15 local Indigenous Boro representatives of the MOs of ICITP-NEZ participated a seminar “The Impact of Insurgency on Women and Children" jointly organized by the District administration of Bongaigaon and the Army authority at Champa Club, Dhaligaon. ICITP-NEZ highlighted some of the criminal activities of the Armies like gang rapes, molestation of the Indigenous and Tribal women causing serious impact on the status of IPs women in the society.
May 13, 2000 : The Secretary of the zone was appointed as a speaker in a seminar “The Need of Women's Education “organized by the DPEP, Borobazar BRCC at Barlawgaon Bodo High School, Barlawgaon.
May 20, 2000: Jebra Ram Muchahary, the Secretary of the NEZ, ICITP and the Principal of St. John's Mission, Bijni was awarded “GEM OF INDIA AWARD" by All India Achievers' Conference, New Delhi in the 34 th National Seminar on “Challenges in the New Millennium- The Achievers Perspective". Mr. Raman Sing, the Union Minister of State Commerce & Industries and Mr. K.P.S Gill, the super cop of India presented the award.
June 25, 2000: Executive meeting of ICITP-NEZ was held at CASA office, Dimapur.The meeting resolved to depute some key members of MOs to attend Training of Facilitators (TOF) on PSP/Capacity Building at Ranchi.
July 18-28, 2000 : ICITP-NEZ deputed 8 Indigenous representatives including the Secretary of the zone from this region at the 18 th Session of UNWGIP, Geneva, Switzerland.
July 31- August 4, 2000: The Secretary of the zone participated in the UNITAR's training on "Peace Negotiation and Peace Building" at Cartigny, Switzerland.
August 9, 2000: Indigenous day was observed in St. John's Mission to mark the world's Indigenous day. About 300 Indigenous parents and students participated in the programme. This was the 2 nd Indigenous day observation in the St. John's Mission.
August 21, 2000 : ICITP-NEZ, condoled the brutal killings of two leading Boro leaders Bineswar Brahma, the then President of Bodo Sahitya Sobha, Guwahati and Mohini Basumatary, MLA of Bijni, on 19 th and 21 st August respectively at their own residence by some unidentified Boro militants and the team of the ICITP-NEZ visited the bereave families at Bhatarmari, Kokrajhar and the Gargaon, Bijni to pay homage to them who were great patrons of the ICITP-NEZ.
October 26-27, 2000 : Zonal Executive meeting held at CASA, Dimapur to discuss about the zonal TOF programme to be held at Imphal, Manipur on November 2001.
November 15,16 and 17, 2000: A three-day workshop on TOF was held at the State Guest House, Imphal, Manipur including the election of the zone on the last day. The meeting was graced by the Governor of Manipur as Chief Guest, Mr. G.K. Pillai, the Secretary to the Home affairs, North East, New Delhi and other distinguished IPs in the region. About 100 Indigenous participants from different MOs actively participated in the programme. Ms. Maria Mangte, the Secretary General facilitated the TOF. The following persons were elected through secret ballot papers for the new Executive Body of the zone for the next 3 years term:

It is to be mentioned that, the MOs from Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura could not participate in the TOF/Election due to prevailing situations of Manipur and time constraint as informed by the affiliated MOs.
December 16, 17, 2000: The zone deputed 5(Five) representatives of ICITP-NEZ to attend the National Assembly of ICITP at Ranchi. They were:

January 12-26, 2001: The Secretary of the zone participated in the two weeks conference of Indigenous Dialogue Project at International Esperanto Institute, Riouwsraat 172, Hague, the Netherlands.
February 22, 2001 : The Secretary along with two ICITP volunteers attended one-day seminar on "Media" organized by NESCOM (North-east Social Communication), Dimapur at St. Francis D. Assisi Technical School, Chaparakata, Bongaigaon.
March 10-11, 2001 : St. John’s Mission in collaboration with ICITP-NEZ organised two days Teachers Orientation programme for 20 local teachers.
